Features of Digital Stepper Drives


Stepper drive, also known as a stepper motor driver or stepper controller, is an electronic device that controls the operation of a stepper motor. It converts low-level signals from a microcontroller or computer into higher current and voltage levels needed to drive the stepper motor effectively. There are these types of stepper drives:Voltage-Controlled Drive、Current-Controlled Drives、Integrated Stepper Drives. The Characteristics of Digital Stepper Drives


1. Microstepping Capability: Many stepper drives support microstepping, which divides each full step of the motor into smaller incremental steps. Microstepping improves motion smoothness, reduces vibration, and enhances positional accuracy, especially at lower speeds.


2. Open-Loop Operation: Stepper drives operate in an open-loop control system, meaning they do not require feedback devices like encoders or resolvers to determine the motor's position. This simplifies system design and reduces overall costs compared to closed-loop systems used with servo motors.
