Stepper and Servo Motor

Introduction: Servo motor, also known as the execution motor, is used as an executive element in the automatic control system to convert the received electrical signal into the angular displacement or angular speed output on the motor shaft. Servo motor can be divided into DC and AC servo motor two categories. Stepper motor is an open loop control element stepper motor which converts the electrical pulse signal into angular displacement or linear displacement.

Similarities: Stepper motors, like servo motors, are equipped with mechanisms that control the rotation Angle by receiving external signals, and they can both perform operations such as positioning of equipment.

Difference:

  1. Control methods.

The stepper motor controls the rotation Angle by controlling the number of pulses, and one pulse corresponds to one stepping Angle. The servo motor controls the rotation Angle by controlling the length of the pulse time.

  2. Working equipment and workflow required

  3. Low frequency characteristics 4

  4. Ttorque frequency characteristics

  5. Overload capabilities

  6. Speed response performance
